I would prefer a gynecologist, but then again any old doctor will do. In fact, any 9th grader that has taken health class will do. I need you to have a conversation with this man:
Oh wait, you can’t he’s deceased. Well never mind we can just have the same conversation with this man:
Or how about we just get this man the audio version of Where Do Babies Come From? I think that actually reading might be too much to ask of this man’s tiny brain.
According to Mr. Akin: “It seems to me first of all from what I understand from doctors that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
I am stunned that 30 years after Friend said almost the exact same thing as Akin did, that Akin still said it.
I should not be surprised that Americans seem at time to be confused about reproduction. After all, we teach abstinence only in our classrooms, and think that condom encourage sexual activity. We claim to be a christian nation as our ministers molest our children from the pulpit or have to leave their lucrative television ministry because they had sex with the church secretary.
I am confused though that in the never-ending quest of the Republican party to occupy my uterus, that stupidity still reigns supreme.
What confuses me the most is that there are women out here, who are so unconcerned with the Republican obsession with reproduction that they vote against their own self interests. How does that happen?
Republicans have evolved ( or regressed ) to the party of family values so long as those values include denying women access to medicine or treatments that can save their lives like mammograms and pap smears. Or those values include a generation of women who are still expected to fuck their husbands, yet not expected to have the right to privacy extend to when and if they choose to use their uterus.
I assume that all of these pro-life Republican men still expect to have sex with their male prostitutes ummmm I mean mistresses ummmm I mean wives. Somehow though, that act of sex is never thought that it could create a pregnancy, or if it does so what?
After all these family values male Republicans can’t get pregnant so it’s not that serious right?
Well to me it is, and to millions of other women it is.
I am sick and tired of watching the Republican party legislate my sex life and my reproductive rights while refusing to legislate the companies dumping toxins into my rivers that supply drinking water to the children they want me to carry to term and then raise, without also legislating the health care I will need for raising this unwanted child in a cancer cluster created by a business unshackled and allowed pollute.
Yeah I said unshackled. Fuck if it is good enough for Joe Biden it is certainly good enough for me.
Rick Santorum during his Presidential run ran around complaining that birth control was available and it led to sex! dirty sex! outside of the marital bed!
He then said that prenatal testing led to abortions! No mention though of how regular prenatal visits led to safer and healthier lives for the mother and child.
Michele Bachman during her Presidential bid insinuated in a debate that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas was responsible for spreading mental retardation because he signed a bill into law that allowed girls to be inoculated with the HPV vaccine. I’m sorry what?
Rep. Jeanine Notter (R) of New Hampshire sponsored a bill that would force gynecologists and medical practitioners to tell women considering terminating a pregnancy that it increased their chances for breast cancer. Yep. The World Health Organization says there is no connection between abortion and breast cancer but since when have the Republicans let a little thing like facts get in their way?
If they thought at all that facts were material then Akin would not be saying stupid things like: legitimate rape victims don’t get pregnant.
The Romney/Ryan campaign took a stand ( I guess miracles do happen ) today and distanced themselves from the statement of Akin. A spokesperson explained that in a Romney/Ryan administration women who are raped would have access to terminations. Well not at Planned Parenthood though, because Romney wants that to go bye bye.
Perhaps Mr. Romney will promise every woman a metal coat hanger on November 7 should he win.
How on earth can I resist that attractive an offer?
