Sorry Black men, me personally? I’m not here for your fake boycott, your fake outrage and your demand that I “stand” with you on Colin’s knee.
Look, you all of a sudden want to stand for something you think is important. Good for you. I’m not here for it though and we can revisit this conversation when you get on my level.
My boycott of the NFL started a couple of years ago when I watched on national television video footage of Ray Rice hitting his then fiancé with a two piece and I watched the response of Black men and the NFL.
You didn’t give a shit then, the NFL didn’t give a shit then. Sure Ray Rice is not playing football, but it’s not because of his violence against a Black woman, it is because those who make money off the athletic ability of Black men feared the backlash of white women’s rights groups more than they feared losing a gifted athlete. In their heads they could replace him with some other nigger with a ball and strong thighs. They were right.
The NFL selects a few hundred Black men from thousands every spring and tells them you’re life is going to change.
We ignore that we train our sons that holding a ball will get you out of the ghetto. We ignore that we subject our most valuable treasure, our sons to brutal physical training, violent physical contact and hopefully if you are fortunate after a decade of fucking your inner organs and brain up, the Crimson Tide will select you to be a back up of a back up.
Then little Black boy Alabama will make millions off your blood, your sweat, and your Achilles’ tendon while paying you nothing. You will have to conform to their idea of what a good nigger is and what that good nigger can do for them and because you were the back up of the back up the NFL is gonna consider you – not PICK you but consider you.
On day 3.3 of the NFL draft the Philadelphia Eagles will pick you from the scraps and if your agent is good enough you will get a signing bonus of about $100,000 and a 2 year contract for about $2 million dollars. That’s 2 million with incentives though, your weekly paycheck….assuming you make it to that 53 man roster is gonna be about $22,000.

The moment they declared themselves eligible for the draft the college stopped paying the medical insurance premiums.

In the year of somebody’s lord 20 & 17 I am not about to get my ass up on my shoulders that Colin Kapernick is not playing football.

Colin is gonna be alright. He knew the risk he was taking. He understood that his quiet protest might be the end of his NFL career.
He did it anyway.
He didn’t ask for your fake outrage and boycott.
He chose to be a man of integrity and ‘stand’ on his principles. While he was doing that he brought awareness to issues that Black women have been telling to you pay attention to for decades now.
He walked the walk, he knew the risk, and he risked it all because he understood that what he wanted to bring to the attention of this nation which elected a Nazi as President was more important than if he ever took a NFL snap again.
Now that he is paying the price he anticipated he was going to pay? You want me to use all of my Black woman magic to get this man a job in the NFL again?

I stand everyday in the fight to protect not just the Black boy I call son who will eventually be a Black man, but for Black men whose name I don’t even know. I also take the time to stand for equality and protection and justice for Black women, Transgendered persons, other POC, Muslims, and everyone else under attack or in the bullseye of 45 the racist and the fascist.
