The view is not the same as his but the surroundings are kinda cool.
I made it to California.
The trip was long, and I have some notes from the trip. The arrival did NOT go as planned but I arrived.
When you hear Black girls are magic, remember I hopped my fat ass into a budget rental truck and drove through TrumpLand to live my dreams.
Because …well life and such….I spent my first night in the new apartment last night even though I arrived here Saturday.
The issues here were not favorable and I spent my first couple of nights in Benecia the next town over.
I did sleep here last night and I really….REALLY enjoy waking up in my own place. I would have loved it even more were it not the electrician waking me but all in all? This is absolutely worth it.
The complex is odd to me in that it has a central mail room. The good news there is I will get almost a mile walk in per day just to check the mail the bad news there is WTF.
I have about 700SQ to myself.
I’ve already figured out the bedroom furniture, and actually I am not all that worried about the living room. That will come in time like all things come in time. Right now I have a place to sleep eat and work and the luxury will arrive in time.
The employment prospects are working well also. So far so good. I think that my only ‘concern’ is what things will look like when I have to take the truck back and that is not the major concern I thought it would be. The Daddy person got me a Clipper Card and Lyft is a thing and there is nothing I cannot get delivered here except cigarettes. I think though if I tried really hard I could find out how to get those delivered as well but I am not going to try very hard there.
I still have a shit ton of boxes to unload but I have in the fridge coffee eggs and english muffins.
I can wash the clothes even if the dishwasher/disposal is yet to be resolved.
I am warm and safe and the Daddy is 10 minutes away…6-8 the way he drives.
I do not have the view of the Bay he does. What I have a view of is the condos across the street.
That view though is still an upgrade from the row houses of Delancey St, or Payson St, or Limekiln Pike.
The forecast for the next week is sunny and 60.
The patio is covered so on the 11 days a year it rains here I won’t get much of that.
This really is home. I’ve thought about how to make it look like ME.
Right now I would love a long hot shower but Stan the Electric man is still fiddling and cursing so coffee and making the boxes empty is the current move.
This is going to be amazing.
