It is Libra season. It is fall. It is October and on the 20th I will mark my 51st rotation around the sun on this 3rd rock.

I can’t say I knew I would be where I am right now at 50, I will say I did not picture this. I am not unhappy about my current station in life. I’ve lived a lot, loved a lot, laughed. I’m working on laughing a lot.

I may be Auntie to some, but even your favorite ratchet Auntie has some of her own. One blessed me with her appearance at Da Smoke and because it is what Auntie’s do, she gathered me when necessary, loved on me, gave some advice and challenged me. Mind you, she did not say go one ahead and do this, but you know a challenge from the elders when you hear one.

She triggered a new category though and I’m not at all mad about it.

She shared that as she was approaching her 60th she focused on 60 new things to do before 60. I only have 16 days until 51 so starting today I will find 51 new things to do this year before I reach 52. Old Nicole would have said that it is too ominous and figured out a way to bitch out of it. New Nicole, in her new state, with her new freedom is going to do it.

I don’t have a long list yet. By not long I mean 2 things, but I started at zero so look at me making progress already.

Anyhow, 51 new things in the next year. Let’s go!
