I said I would keep Vizionz until I died. I even have a note in my last wishes on how to keep the site going when I no longer roam this earth. I don’t plan on dying in November but my wishes to keep this little blog that could going might alter.
In the fall of the year 2000 Democracy as practiced here in the United States died. The Supreme Court of the United States of America ordered that ballots stopped being counted which resulted in the state of Florida being certified as a win for George Bush and awarded him the required 270 Electoral College votes needed to ascend to the Presidency.
This was accepted by the people – including myself in many ways. We didn’t take to the streets and rail against the court possibly subverting the will of the people. We said ok.
Every day since then Democracy has died a little more. Some little cuts, some huge gashes but its been slowly eroding. At times it was simple to not notice, life can life. When you are a marginalized person, or impoverished person it can be super easy to not notice. I noticed though. What did I do? Nothing.
I wept the night of the election 2016. I don’t know what I will be doing this November. I would like to think Biden will pull it out, but after watching the almost insurrection, election day gives no solace. I am legit concerned with what life is going to look like here moving forward. I fear chaos but what I fear more is a response like the election of 2000 where we do …….nothing.
Perhaps I will shed my tears today
